This July has seen a visit by the LOTE team to Japan and specifically the Aomori region of Japan. Along with the projects partner, Prof. Kondo from SOKENDAI University, the LOTE team (Simon Fitch and Robyn Pelling) held local meetings and visited museums and sites to understand the archaeology of the area better and plan for a possible survey in 2026. Whilst Simon has now returned to the UK and will be off shortly to Croatia, Robyn has remained in Japan and in collaboration with Prof. Kondo, will be doing further study and research into the area – look out for more updates from her shortly !
