Bradford was visited by the by Arts and Humanities Research Council to look at the investment through the RICHeS ( Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science) programme. Part of an £80 million national investment, the team were keen to see the recently purchased, mobile equipment intended to be used across marine palaeolandscapes, coastal landscapes and wetlands, enabling the analysis of challenging environments and bridging the traditional divide between land and sea studies.
While on site in Bradford, the RICHeS team experienced a virtual journey from Orkney to a Tanzanian fish market using the Igloo visualisation cylinder, funded by CapCo. They saw the state-of-the-art prospection equipment designed for mobility, facilitating data collection across the UK and globally. The SAFS’ Submerged Submerged Landscape Research Centre remote sensing facility was also on display with its deployment of cost-effective, agile prospection technologies to analyse hard-to-access locations, highlighting the value of these largely unexplored landscapes.
